Ruby's school outfit with a side of "the Fair"

I spent a good amount of late August and September working on a 4-piece school outfit for my niece Ruby using fabrics we bought 2 summers ago when my brother and his family were here while he was going through radiation treatment. Summer was concerned Ru would outgrow the fabrics soon so now was the time. I had Ruby help me pick patterns when they were up here in July for a visit. I also wanted to get part of Ruby's done so that I could enter it into the Puyallup Fair. I ended up with 3 entries into the Fair...Ruby's pants (which won 1st place), Aleena's yellow Belle dress (thanks Tanya for sending it up!), and a shirt I made for C for his 10th birthday (received an Honorable Mention). Joel was finally tall enough to ride some of the rides this year and Micah was tall enough to go on some of the bigger kids rides...as well as taking in the Monster Truck show (boy was that an experience).

End of Summer

Summer seemed to FLY by this year with Baseball going until Late June and then Fall ball starting in August, throw in there a boy trip to SF and a couple of birthday parties, as well as the end of Luke's huge 2 year work project (Equinox). Since Luke finally had a few minutes of spare time we decided to finally go to the Coast as a family (as the last few trips were just me and the kids). We took in some time in the sand and a little geocaching as well.

So following the SF weekend we then had Micah's birthday. We celebrated his actual birthday at home opening a few gifts from us and Gramps/Grammie...and then Again we splurged (what can I say...it was that kind of year LOL) and had his birthday party at the local gymnastics joint that Micah and Joel were taking classes at: The Jungle Gym. We had the wonderful Heidi as our teacher and a whole lot of kids! I also had the joy of making Micah's birthday outfit which he still loves to wear (who wouldn't want to wear Scooby Doo!):

San Francisco '09

For Christian's 10th birthday this year we decided to splurge Big Time and Luke took C to San Francisco for a Father/Son incredible weekend (secretly I think daddy wanted to go and thought it would be a good trip to take C). They hit 2 Giants games, Great America...and the best part was Luke's dad John/Gramps was able to meet them there and take in some of the festivities:
